1st Stripe - Basics & Kicks Red Black Belt: Blocks & Strikes: Punches & Strikes (require hip movement, board-breaking power, and intensity - tension moves 5 sec.) Shield (covering the side of the head from a hook punch or counter) Gate (Lifting the knee to meet the elbow as a block against kicks) SPEAR (Non-violent posture used in de-escalation training) Headbutt (Using the side of the temple against a soft target) Finger Jab (Spear hand directed at the eyes) Kicks: Tornado Kick (It's an inner crescent kick that combines a reverse movement and a hop) Back Kick (must be Belt Height and strong re-chamber) Twist Kick (Belt height - chamber kicking leg across the knee) Axe Kick (Chamber and execution like an outer crescent kick with a strong, controlled landing) Low Kick (Goes through target, striking with the shin - Do Not re-chamber or SNAP the kick) Etiquette: Hand Shakes, Raising your hand, Eye Contact, Bowing with eyes up and feet together Home Position: Hand is Always Palm down before moving to the hip or stomach in almost all cases. Kicks: Chambers not enforced now leads to frustration for everyone. The proper part of the foot is used. Re-chambered for balance and power. 4th Stripe: Board Breaks
Red Black Belt Board Breaks are a Hook Punch- Twist Kick or Back Elbow - Jump Front Kick, or a Reverse Punch or Step Reverse Side Kick. Board Breaks must be performed with the left and right side using hand gear and sparring boots when the instructor requires. Students have three opportunities to break the board.
