Taekwondo Classes for Ages 6-12 & Classes

Martial arts are not like team sports because the emphasis is on developing the individual's self-esteem, not the team's winning record. The belt system is the key; when children earn their belts, it gives them a great sense of accomplishment and improves their feelings about themselves. 2. In her 7+ years, she has competed in several tournaments, with nothing less than a 2nd place finish, winning back to back Grand Champion in kata and placing 1st in sparring vs. boys ages 12-13 years old. She didn't do this on her own, and certainly didn't do it from my instruction. The instructors (I have not seen a woman instructor in 7 years, and there has never been a sign in sheet) strike the perfect balance of discipline and fun. If there is one thing I've learned in my 19 years in education, there must be a balance in these two areas. If you are looking to train the next Bruce Lee, this probably isn't the studio.
